Binding Financial Agreements, commonly referred to as pre-nuptial agreements, may not sound like the most romantic way to start a marriage or de-facto relationship but they can be a very practical way to protect your assets.

Child support

Spousal Maintenance

In Australia, the support payments for children in separated families are commonly agreed upon by each parent, or otherwise assessed by the Department of Human Services: Child Support rather than the courts. The amount of money payable is different in each case, dependent upon the specific circumstances of the family and its income and is based on the formula assessment.

We have extensive knowledge and expertise with regards to different child support arrangements and can cut through the complicated jargon to provide you with advice in relation to the child support options available to you.

Upon separation, some parties may not have sufficient income to meet their own needs. We can discuss whether you may be eligible to apply to the court for spousal maintenance payments which can pay for basic expenses and relieve the financial pressure caused by the relationship breakdown.
